Simple, Effective, and Gets the Job Done

I picked up the small beige version mainly to freshen up a few sweaters that were starting to look worn from pilling. It works exactly how I hoped it would. It is lightweight, easy to hold, and removes lint and fuzz quickly without a lot of effort.I have used it on sweaters, sweatshirts, and even a couple of throw blankets. It cleaned them up nicely and made them look much newer. You do not need to press down hard at all. Just let it glide lightly over the fabric and it does the work. When the lint compartment fills up, it is easy to pop off and empty.I like that it is battery operated. No cords to deal with and no worrying about charging it. For something this simple, that is honestly the most convenient setup. It is not fancy and does not have a bunch of settings, but it does not need them.If you are trying to extend the life of clothes that are starting to pill, this is a cheap and practical fix. Mine has been working well and I am glad I grabbed it. Definitely one of those small tools that earns its spot in the drawer.

Makes it look new

I have a few old pieces of clothing I wear to my warehouse job and they were getting to the point of becoming a bit embarrassing for all the frays. I jumped on the opportunity to try this out and have been impressed. I got the large and it worked fairly quickly to remove the build up lint. Id definitely say be careful though because its strong and i went a little too hard on this section of my old sweater when I first started it up and it made a small hole. You really dont need to apply any pressure. Its a good size and Im sure the small will work just as well and a good value for your money to freshen up the wardrobe again and prolong the use of clothing you have.

Handy gadget, takes longer & more effort than I expected

Rating: 3.3 / 5- I got this to smooth out the pilling to revive my old sweaters and sweatpants! Not a bad little gadget but definitely had expectations that it would be a faster process.Things I like:- It has a little pocket to collect all the lint- It has some sound to it but it wasn’t excessively loud or bothersome at all which I do appreciate (I tend to get overwhelmed with loud sounds)- I was skeptical it wasn’t doing anything at first but it did successfully remove quite a bit from my sweatpants after just a couple of minutes. I found that going in circular motions, up/down, side to side (rather than in straight lines) helped loosen it up more.Things I don't like:- It takes a while to actually get some of this pilling loose. I understand that the protective guard is there so it doesn’t shred or damage your clothes because that wouldn’t be great either! But it most likely isn’t the most effective tool out there. It does get about 75% the job done but I really have to work this little machine in and there’s still some pieces that never come off.- It does feel a little like cheapy plastic to me. It doesn’t feel unsturdy necessarily just has a cheap feeling/look.- The lint will often get stuck on the very entrance edges so when you open the pocket some of it will immediately go flying out.The product and photos match the description well! I’m glad I got this for sure! It will come in handy, especially with thrifted items or hand-me-downs from my mom’s closet, lol. But I wouldn’t necessarily go around recommend this to people. I think it’s a pretty fair price point for what you’re getting though - but if have time to extend your research to something better, I’d recommend that.

Convenient Fabric Shaver, but Feels a Bit Flimsy

The Farberware Fabric Shaver is lightweight and easy to use, making quick touch-ups on sweaters, clothes, and upholstery straightforward. Its triple stainless blades remove fuzz and pills effectively, and the built-in lint bin keeps the area tidy. The cordless, battery-operated design is convenient, though the instructions on battery placement are confusing—you just need to make sure the two AA batteries are opposite each other, which works fine in practice. The main downside is that some parts feel a bit flimsy, and the unit doesn’t feel particularly solid in the hand. It still works well for light, occasional use, but it might not hold up to heavy or frequent shaving sessions.Overall, it’s a handy, portable fabric shaver that restores clothing and furniture efficiently, though the build quality leaves a little to be desired.

Not as large or efficient as I expected.

Have a sofa that piles badly and hoped this electric shaver head was larger and would save me time. Turns out the guard occupies a large portion of the shaver head (thus product on right in photo.) This shaver takes 2 AA batteries that are easy enough to install. It is incredibly lightweight and the design is very easy to hold. The head cap does not appear to be removable so you can't take it apart and remove any strings or hair that get wrapped in the blades like other models. Performance of this shave is poor. Took extra passes and still removed minimal material on the lowest setting. I ran my older shaver over top the same area and removed a lot more material in a lot less time. I think the only practical use for this product is if you have some odd knits that would require a shave with a guard gap. Overall not a fan and prefer my other unit.

Works Well for Removing Pills from Sweaters and Shirts

It does the job. I ran it through its paces with two pilled sweaters and a cotton shirt, and it performed well. It’s a fairly standard model - simple on/off switch (no speed settings) and a cap that makes only a small adjustment of about 1/16". I got better results on all three items by removing the cap and using it with just the silver screen between the fabric and the blades.I like that this shaver is battery operated. My previous one was rechargeable and stopped taking a charge after about a year, so I was ready to go back to an old-school battery model. I got through two sweaters and a shirt with no problem. When the lint compartment starts filling up you can hear the motor slow, and emptying it brought it right back to full speed. On my black/green sweater, the shaver did a great job removing the pilling and smoothing the surface. It glided easily and didn’t catch on anything - this sweater had a nap worked really well with the shaver. (I forgot to take a before picture.)My beige sweater was much “furrier,” and the shaver did catch and twist a few threads at first. They were pulled tight into the center hole and I used tweezers to remove them. But once I took the cap off and just floated the shaver lightly over the surface, it worked much better and no more twisting or catching. The beige cotton shirt had a smooth surface with tiny pills all over it from years of wear. With the cap off, the shaver did a smooth out the fabric a bit - a good job given it was a very low pile fabric. The shaver came with very minimal instructions - just what was printed on the packaging. The cap removal wasn’t mentioned, and it took a bit of effort to remove, so I wasn’t immediately sure it was intended to come off. If you do use it without the cap, take extra care: with no gap between metal screen over the blades and fabric, there’s more risk of damaging delicate knits. For thicker or high-pile sweaters, keeping the cap on is the safer option.Overall, this is a serviceable fabric shaver: simple, effective, and easy to operate. Just empty the compartment when it slows down, use a light touch, and adjust cap/no-cap based on the knit. The only drawback is that there are no replacement blades included, so if the blade dulls, the whole unit would need to be replaced.

Its your average fabric shaver.

I’ve used several handheld fabric shavers and this one performs just as well as those have. In my photos, the shaved part of the fabric is in the center of each so that you can see the variation in the shaved/unshaved parts. I really like that this shaver is battery powered instead of rechargeable because I feel it will last longer. I also like the design of the debris collection area, although fuzzy still gets stuck in the shaver head. The guard over the head is an interesting design and I ended up taking it off because otherwise it did not reach the pilling fabric. If you had longer fabric it a really fuzzy sweater, I think the design would would great. The shaver is powerful but takes a long time to use. Although it is named “large” the actual shaving head isn’t much larger than the mini shavers I’ve used. I think this is just an ok value for the money…. The best thing about it is the ease of use and the fact that it’s powered with two double a batteries. It will help keep your fabric soft.

Perfect for travel and easy enough to use.

This fabric shaver and lint remover is a pretty nifty little gadget. It does require two double AA batteries, and is easy to use, but the backing doesn’t seem to line back up entirely once the batteries are in place. The cover is easy to pop off before use, and it’s easy to twist off the blade cover to empty the lint catcher, but you have to line the blade cover back up precisely when you twist it back on to allow it to turn back on again. The lint trap is a decent size, so it can hold a full sweaters worth before needing to be emptied again. It’s pretty good at its job, but the quality isn’t 100%.

Good lint remover, not as effective as anticipated

This works fine but I had high expectations that it would work MUCH better than my roller that I have been using for years that only cost $2. That one works after only rolling it once over my shirt, and poof, dog hair and lint are removed almost immediately. This, however, I needed to run over my shirt a few times before the lint would be gone. I felt that having a battery operated one would mean this thing would be much quicker in removing lint. However, it does do the job, don't get me wrong...just takes a few once-overs. Also, it needs 2 AA batteries, which are not included...justa n FYI

Farberware Large Lint Remover Fabric Shaver

This fabric shaver works as well as others I've had for removing pilling from various clothing. It is a bigger size and I expected it to work a bit better or faster than smaller versions but I feel its about the same, if not a tad cumbersome for more delicate areas. I didn't have any issues with damage but I'm not new to using these either and am extra cautious to start! I do think its a bit pricey especially considering it doesn't even come with batteries but otherwise works well enough! It got my sheets and sweaters looking much tidier and nicer than before - also fantastic to have on hand if you tend to resell clothes to get them in the best condition possible!

The blades wear out WAY to quickley !!!

Once the cutting blade circular guard is removed instead of guard rotated to adjust blade cut depth above fabric being groomed, this lint remover unit works very well, BUT BUT, BUT, the blades wear out after two coat surfaces are groomed. The blades need to be replaceable, and replacement blades need to be offered !!! Only two stars from me.

This doesn’t work for me.

The shaver does not remove my lint. Also, the plastic cover holding the batteries in keeps popping off causing the batteries to fall out.

Works

This is the smallest one and it works great. Love to use on my sweaters. Anything with lint. Thank you.

Farberware Fabric Shaver – Quietly Impressive, No Drama Required

I didn’t expect to have strong feelings about a lint remover, yet here we are. This Farberware fabric shaver is one of those humble little tools that just… works. No learning curve, no fuss, no unnecessary bells and whistles. I popped in the batteries, ran it over a sweater that had clearly given up on life, and watched it look presentable again in minutes. The triple-blade design does a solid job lifting fuzz and pills without snagging or chewing through fabric, which is always my biggest fear with these things. It’s gentle enough for knits but effective enough for upholstery and couch cushions that see daily abuse. I also appreciate the larger shaving head, which makes the process faster and less tedious. It’s not flashy, and it’s not pretending to reinvent fabric care, but it’s reliable, efficient, and oddly satisfying to use. If you want your clothes and furniture to stop looking tired without putting in real effort, this is an easy yes. Plus, this stores quite a lot.

Farberware Lint Remover

This lint remover works decently, but I was a little underwhelmed, considering the size and brand. I do like that it uses batteries, so I did not have to worry about plugging it in anywhere, or wondering if the cord is long enough. It is easy to hold and is pretty large, so it will work well on larger items of clothing. It does not work as cleanly as I would have expected, but it will remove bigger lint balls. I have used this a handful of times, for about 5 to 10 minutes each use, and the battery is still going strong.

Works but a little cheap.

Love the look of it, the color is super pretty and modern but vintage looking. It works fine - I was able to fabric shave a wool sweater pretty well and remove a good amount of very attached lint. It just feels a little low quality and lightweight. I have another lint remover and it’s much more substantial.Otherwise, it’s easy and quick to set up and use. It does the job so no real complaints but I do think it could be made with better quality materials for the price.

Effective After Removing the Cap

The media could not be loaded.

The Farberware Fabric Trimmer is a handy tool for removing lint and pilling collected on old clothing, bedding, and similar items. Mine came with the cap cracked, but I feel that the unit works much better and is easier to use without the cap anyway. I can’t think of a scenario where the cap would be necessary. Another reviewer mentioned that it wasn’t removable, but mine came off easily enough. With the cap out of the way, the trimmer works as expected. It effortlessly chews up lint and stores it in the removable plastic receptacle for easy cleanup. It left a couple of pillows I tested it on with smooth surfaces again. Not quite new again, but close enough.
